Pillar Point Harbor, located along the San Mateo County California Coast, is a protected harbor of refuge known for its safety and modern amenities. Home to a thriving commercial fishing industry, sport fishermen, and pleasure boaters, it boasts 369 berths, an inner and outer breakwater, and is considered one of the safest harbors in the United States. While it does not have guest docks, the Harbormaster's office fills any open slips with visiting boaters on a first-come, first-served basis. Managed by the San Mateo County Harbor District, which was established in 1933, the harbor has a rich history dating back to its construction in the mid-20th century. Pillar Point Harbor also hosts various public events, including the annual Mavericks surfing competition and a Christmas boat decorating contest. Boaters can contact the Harbormaster's office upon arrival via phone or VHF channel.
