Kaskaskia Lock Wall is a must-stop location off the Mississippi, offering secure and free tie-up behind the dam. It’s especially valuable during severe weather, providing a safe haven. Boaters simply inform the lockmaster of their boat name and destination. The lockmaster directs tie-ups, accommodating up to eight boats on the wall, with additional anchorage available nearby. Cleats are spaced about every 30 feet on the first sections of the wall, ensuring secure mooring. Communication with the lockmaster on CH14 is recommended before approaching, especially with active barge traffic.
